2006 BCBSRI Marketing Practices Warning
This Office received a complaint from UnitedHealthcare of New England, Inc. against Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island alleging unfair competition and practices with respect to Blue Cross’ marketing of its municipal administrative services business. After a full investigation of the matter, we have determined that Blue Cross’ action may have violated statute and are issuing a warning to Blue Cross that it must immediately cease referenced marketing activities.
